Mythe

About this board game

Mythe is a 2–5-player adventure game with an approximately 20-minute playing time, in which mouse heroes journey to a red dragon’s castle to recover the kingdom’s stolen Sacred Cheese.

The peaceful kingdom of Mythe has been raided by an evil red dragon and his monster companions. The dragon has taken the golden Sacred Cheese, a symbol of the kingdom’s prosperity and unity, leaving the fate of the kingdom in peril.

On each turn, players progress by drawing cards from other players’ hands, one at a time. Each player chooses when they have taken enough cards and may then decide to advance their hero on the game board.

There is danger in every draw. If an Obstacle card appears, the hero must stop and deal with the mishap instead of moving that turn. After finishing a turn, whether or not the hero advanced, the player may redistribute any of their cards to the other players.

• Play as a brave mouse hero.
• Draw cards from opponents’ hands to progress.
• Use the Shield, Sword, or Fairy to confront the dragon.

To win, a hero must hold one of these legendary cards and move onto the Dragon’s space. That player defeats the evil creature, recovers the Sacred Cheese, and saves Mythe.

In the original release, titled マイス, meaning “mice” in Japanese, the heroes were trying to save a princess from the dragon instead. In Mythe, careful card management and the decision of when to advance guide the desperate journey to the castle.
