Vietnam Solitaire: Special Edition is a 1–2 player conflict game with a 60-minute playing time, in which US and South Vietnamese forces fight to control regions of Vietnam.

This expanded edition includes the original Vietnam Solitaire with entirely new artwork, alongside a reimplementation by Steve Kling. The reimplementation adds expanded rules, new counters, and two new scenarios: Tet 1968 and Fall of South Vietnam.

In the primarily solitaire experience, you deploy US and South Vietnamese forces, napalm, and air units across a map of Vietnam. The AI controls the Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army through movement and attack rules, creating an opposing force to challenge your campaign.

The Special Edition also includes optional two-player rules. In this mode, a second player controls the North Vietnamese forces instead of the AI, while the US and South Vietnamese forces remain on the other side of the conflict.

Victory depends on regional control rather than a predetermined outcome. To win, you must control at least three regions of Vietnam for a majority of the game, and unlike in the original game, North Vietnamese victory is not inevitable.
