About this board game
Wizard’s Garden is a two-player board game released in 2004, with a listed play time of 25 minutes.
The game takes place in a garden where the rare and unusual Alesalitis plant grows. This strange little plant has a tendency to change color, adding a distinctive feature to the garden as it is planted.
Alesalitis also has a special flowering condition: it flowers every time another Alesalitis is planted next to it. From this plant, players can harvest two kinds of needed flowers, each identified by its own color and name.
- Dovetail is a white flower.
- Ravenclaw is a black flower.
These elements give Wizard’s Garden a compact focus centered on planting Alesalitis, watching its color change, encouraging adjacent growth, and harvesting the resulting flowers. The design presents a memorable garden theme through a rare plant with a clear and unusual flowering behavior.
Wizard’s Garden – The Alesalitis Plant was a finalist in the 2004 About.com Board/Card Games / Abstract Games Magazine Shared Pieces Game Design Competition. That recognition places the game among the finalists of a competition focused on shared-pieces game designs.
Online play is available through Super Duper Games, offering another way to experience this concise two-player garden game.
