About this board game

Trellis is a tile-placement race for 2–4 players that takes about 20 minutes, as players grow a colorful garden and work to place all fifteen of their flowers.

Each player has a supply of flower meeples in a unique color and a hand of hex tiles showing a tangled weave of differently colored vines. On every turn, the active player must plant one tile, expanding the shared garden and creating new connections.

  • Hex tiles form an evolving garden of connected vines.
  • Flower meeples claim vines in each player’s color.
  • Matching connections can trigger automatic blooms and bonus plays.

When a tile is placed, automatic blooms happen first. A newly connected vine blooms when it matches the color of a neighboring vine that has already been claimed with a flower. The active player then places a flower on an unbloomed vine of the newly placed tile.

That claim can start another cascade: every unclaimed neighboring vine of the same color, connected to the vine just claimed, immediately blooms for that player. If the tile has no unclaimed vines remaining, the active player may instead place a bloom on any unclaimed vine anywhere in the garden.

Helping opponents can be just as valuable. Whenever the tile placement causes opponents’ flowers to bloom, the active player gains a bonus flower placement for each flower they helped bloom. Carefully choosing which vines to claim—and when to give another player room to grow—can create powerful opportunities.

In Trellis, every tile changes the garden and the possibilities around it. The first player to place all fifteen flowers wins immediately, making each connection, cascade, and helpful bloom part of a fast-moving puzzle.
