Napoleon Invades Spain: Peninsular War – Part I is a 2021 two-player board game with a playing time of 720 minutes, covering four major battles from the opening years of the Peninsular War.

Following Napoleon’s failed attempt to take over Spain in early 1808, French armies had been driven back toward the border after the defeat at Bailén and setbacks at the sieges of Gerona, Zaragoza, and Valencia. A British army had also landed in Portugal under Sir Arthur Wellesley, setting the stage for a conflict that would last six years.

Napoleon responded by mobilizing more than 100,000 veterans from Austerlitz, Jena, and Eylau and leading them personally. The game focuses on the first and second British interventions in Portugal and Spain in 1808, along with two major battles from the second campaign of the Guerra de la Independencia.

Part of the Library of Napoleonic Battles series, the game combines a high level of historical detail with beautiful, accurate maps and excellent playability. Battles are presented at brigade level, offering a detailed view of the forces and commanders involved.
