Kneipenquiz: Family & Friends Spezial is a pub-quiz-style game for 3–6 players, with a playing time of about 30 minutes. Players tackle general-knowledge questions, advance on the board, and compete to make the greatest progress.

The game offers two ways to play. Players can work together against imaginary opponents, or divide into teams for a team-versus-team contest. This makes the quiz suitable for cooperative play as well as direct competition between groups.

Most questions test general knowledge, but some focus on the players themselves. In these special questions, one player secretly gives an answer to a personal prompt, while the other team members try to guess that answer correctly.
