About this board game

Piratas! (3ª Edição) is a take-that card game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 25 minutes. Each player commands a pirate ship and races to collect five treasures before the other captains, while trying not to be robbed.

Every turn gives a player two actions. These can be used to play a card and activate its ability, buy a card from the deck, or declare a duel against another player. The result is a fast-moving contest filled with shifting fortunes, bold attacks, and attempts to protect a growing treasure collection.

Duels bring cannon fire and direct confrontation to the table. When challenging another player, the attacker chooses how many cannons to use and the corresponding cannonballs to fire. The winner kills all of the opponent’s pirates and may look at and choose one card from the loser’s hand.

Cards provide a variety of disruptive and surprising effects. Depending on the card played, players may steal treasures, use a parrot to copy another player’s action, pillage, flee from combat, or even drown another player’s pirate.

• Race for treasure: Be the first to collect five treasures.
• Direct conflict: Challenge rivals with cannons and cannonballs.
• Take-that effects: Steal, pillage, copy actions, escape, and attack opposing pirates.
• Hand disruption: Duel winners get to inspect and select a card from the loser’s hand.

To become the great legend of the seven seas, a captain must gather enough wealth while surviving the schemes of the other players. Piratas! 3 is a reimplementation of the 2015 game Piratas!, published by Brazilian publisher Geeks N’ Orcs.
