Lock ‘n Load Tactical: Heroes of North Africa is a two-player World War II tactical board game, released in 2017, with an approximate play time of 240 minutes. It brings the award-winning Lock ‘n Load Tactical Series to the harsh desert terrain of North Africa and East Africa.

From 1940 to 1943, players experience the relentless struggle for control of Libya, Egypt, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Suez Canal. The 18 dynamic scenarios cover battles ranging from early fighting in East Africa and Sidi Barrani to El Alamein and the Americans’ first combat during Operation Torch in November 1942.

Italian forces, including paratroopers from the rugged Folgore Division, face Britain’s resolute Eighth Army alongside Rommel’s vaunted Afrika Korps. Free French and American forces also enter the conflict, creating a varied campaign across the desert.

With more components than any previous game in the series at the time, Heroes of North Africa delivers a substantial tactical experience shaped by sand, dust, armor, and determined infantry. It was previously advertised under the names Mare Nostrum and Heroes of the Mediterranean.
