About this board game

Cosmos is an asymmetric deck-building and hand-management game for 1–4 players, played in about 90 minutes.

Take on the role of a protoplanet at the beginning of a planetary system. Across seven rounds—representing more than 7 billion years—your world rotates and grows in its orbit while searching space for the chemical elements needed to develop its characteristics.

Each round, play a card from your hand to determine the action your planet will take. You may move through your orbit, attract elements from nearby areas of space, or improve one of your planet’s defining characteristics.

These characteristics provide different benefits during the game. They can let you play more cards in a round, attract elements from farther away, or gain better control over your planet’s temperature.

Managing your hand and developing your planet’s capabilities are central to the journey. As the rounds pass, each protoplanet follows its own path toward becoming a planet capable of supporting life.

In Cosmos, the winner is the player who has advanced furthest along the path of life when the planetary journey ends.
