About this board game

Jewel Box is a 30-minute game for 1–4 players, released in 2024, in which players collect and arrange unique beetles in a personal 4×4 grid.

Each turn, players roll the dice and take the corresponding beetle from the log. They then place it in front of them, building their collection one beetle at a time. Every newly collected beetle must be placed adjacent to a beetle already in their grid, gradually forming a complete 4×4 Jewel Box.

The game features five beetle families, with 15 unique beetles in each family:

  • Jewels
  • Longhorns
  • Scarabs
  • Ladybugs
  • Weevils

Placement is central to scoring. Each beetle scores points in a unique way depending on how and where it is placed in a player’s Jewel Box, making the developing grid important throughout the game. Points are also scored from any unused Tool Tokens.

Players continue collecting and placing beetles until they have filled their 4×4 grids with 16 beetles. Once scoring is complete, the player with the most points wins. With its distinctive beetle families, dice-driven collection, and location-based scoring, Jewel Box turns every placement into part of a carefully built display.
