About this board game

Symbioz is a luck-free board game for 2–4 players, with play lasting around 180 minutes. Set on a far-distant planet, it challenges players to expand populations of three competing life-forms while trying to overcome their rivals.

The planet is divided into 24 concentrically symmetrical areas. Across this structured board, the carnivorous Kroguls, herbivorous Grabits, and vegetable Zherbes vie for dominance. Each life-form brings a distinct role to the conflict, creating a contest between competing populations.

Players work to expand their populations at the expense of the others. The central objective is not simply to spread across the planet, but to establish an exclusively plant population in the right locations.

  • Kroguls: carnivorous life-forms
  • Grabits: herbivorous life-forms
  • Zherbes: vegetable life-forms
  • Board: 24 concentrically symmetrical areas
  • Players: 2–4
  • Play time: approximately 180 minutes

To win, a player must achieve an exclusively plant population in any three of the 24 areas. This gives the game a precise end goal within its broader struggle for dominance, as players seek to develop their populations while limiting the success of rival life-forms.

With no luck involved, Symbioz presents a fully deterministic contest in which the outcome depends on the choices made during play. Released in 1995, it offers a distinctive science-fiction setting and a focused objective built around population expansion, rivalry, and control of the planet’s symmetrical regions.
