About this board game
Altera is a simultaneous-play, bag-building worker placement dice game for 1–4 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes.
In the mountain city of Altera, the world’s conflicts are no longer settled on the battlefield. Instead, the great factions gather each year at the Ascension Festival, united by the belief that ambition, ingenuity, and cooperation can shape a better future than war.
Across seven rounds, players draw and roll their dice before strategically deploying their Emissaries. Every placement helps determine the path ahead, making each decision an opportunity to develop your plans while responding to the moves of your rivals.
Where you send your Emissaries determines which of the three Guilds you gain Reputation with. At the end of each round, the player with the most Reputation in a Guild earns Prestige, then returns to the bottom of that Guild’s track. This shifting position gives other players the chance to rise and keeps the contest for influence in motion.
- Simultaneous play keeps decisions moving as players shape their strategies.
- Bag-building and dice rolling support the development of your engine.
- Worker placement determines which Guilds receive your Reputation.
- Prestige earned over seven rounds leads toward victory and the High Council.
Build your engine, weigh the changing Guild tracks, and outmaneuver competing factions as the festival unfolds. In Altera, success depends on earning enough Prestige to claim victory and ascend to the High Council.
Released in 2027, Altera combines dice, bag-building, worker placement, and simultaneous decision-making in a strategic struggle for influence among the city’s great factions.
