About this board game
Take It or Leave It is a dice-drafting and task-completion game for 2–5 players, with rounds that take about 30 minutes to play. Players compete to fulfill task cards by selecting from a shared pool of white, black, and red dice.
At the start of a round, each player has four task cards. These cards show dice combinations or requirements to achieve, such as rolling a sum of pips below 13 or collecting two white dice and one black die. Every task has a point value, with more difficult challenges offering more points.
A player rolls the dice pool, then players take turns deciding whether to take a die or pass for the rest of the round. Each player also has an action card that can manipulate the dice, creating opportunities to improve the chances of completing their tasks.
- Choose dice from a shared pool of white, black, and red dice.
- Use red dice as either black or white when assigning dice to tasks.
- Complete task cards to score their listed points.
- Lose a couple of points when dice remain unused, depending on the outcome.
Once everyone has passed, players assign their collected dice to their task cards and check which challenges they completed. Successfully meeting your requirements earns points, while unused dice can reduce your score.
After each round, players refill their hands of task cards in the appropriate proportions. The game ends after each player has started a round between one and three times, depending on the number of players, and the player with the highest total score wins.
With its mix of shared-dice choices, flexible red dice, personal tasks, and one-use-style manipulation through action cards, Take It or Leave It makes every selection matter.
