About this board game
GD ’41 is a tactical World War II combat game for 1–2 players, with play times ranging from 1 to 40 hours. As game number 9 in The Gamers Tactical Combat Series, it places players in the fighting around Orel, Mtzensk, and the advance toward Tula and Moscow.
The game covers the German drive that followed the opening of the final attack on Moscow in September 1941. After Orel was captured and German forces pushed toward the Zusha River, Soviet defenders organized around the newly formed 26th Army. The decisive action centers on the combined German attack ordered for 23 October, involving the 3rd and 4th Panzer Divisions and Infantry Regiment Grossdeutschland.
GD ’41 operates at a highly detailed scale: each turn represents 20 minutes, each hex covers 125 yards, and units include infantry platoons and individual vehicles. Its medium-high complexity and strong solitaire playability support both extended solo sessions and two-player battles.
- Two 22 × 34-inch full-color mapsheets
- 840 half-inch counters across three dual-sided countersheets
- A 28-page TCS Version 3.1 system rulebook and a 24-page game-specific rulebook
- Two Charts & Tables folders, two player aid cards, and two six-sided dice
With its close-scale representation of infantry, armor, terrain, and rapidly changing battlefield conditions, the game presents a substantial Eastern Front combat experience. It is designed for players who want to explore the operational situation and tactical engagements surrounding the German push toward Tula while managing a detailed set of battlefield components.
