About this board game
HoldFast: Atlantic 1939-45 is a two-player World War II naval game with an approximately 150-minute playing time, recreating the struggle for control of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Allied player commands the forces of Britain and the United States, working to keep sea lanes open for vital convoys. The Axis player directs German U-Boats and other German and Italian naval forces in an effort to cut the supply lines supporting Great Britain and Russia.
The Atlantic campaign brings several kinds of naval power into conflict. U-Boats prowl the ocean, while battleships and cruisers threaten the sea routes that keep the Allies supplied. The great German warships Bismarck, Tirpitz, and others challenge Britain’s best at sea.
- Allied convoys and sea lanes supplying Great Britain and Russia
- German U-Boats hunting across the Atlantic
- German and Italian battleships and cruisers threatening Allied supply routes
- British, American, German, and Italian naval and air forces
- The growing presence of the United States fleet as the war progresses
Each side faces a clear wartime objective. The Axis player seeks to sever the Atlantic supply network and win the war, while the Allied player must overcome the U-Boat menace and Axis naval and air forces to control the ocean.
Released in 2016, HoldFast: Atlantic 1939-45 focuses on the contest between convoy protection and commerce disruption. Whether you take the role of the Axis powers threatening the sea lanes or the Allies fighting to keep them open, the game places the decisive Atlantic struggle at the center of the experience.
