About this board game

Mighty is a point-trick card game with bidding for 3–8 players, usually played with five, and a typical play time of 60 minutes.

In each hand, players compete through bidding, and the high bidder chooses a partner by calling a card. The bidder and the player holding that card then work together to take enough scoring cards to fulfill the bid.

The called partner is not revealed immediately. Instead, the partnership remains hidden until the called-for card is played, creating a distinctive moment of discovery during the hand. The scoring cards are the A, K, Q, J, and 10 cards.

  • Players: 3–8, with five players as the standard format
  • Play time: approximately 60 minutes
  • Core mechanics: point-trick play, bidding, and a concealed partner

Mighty is a public domain card game said to have been invented by Korean college students in the mid-1970s. It is closely related to Japanese picture-capturing games, particularly Napoleon, whose origins date to the beginning of the 20th century.

The game is played mostly by current or former students in Korea, as well as by some groups in North America. With variant rules supporting player counts from three to eight, Mighty offers a flexible way to experience a Korean trick-taking tradition built around bids, teamwork, and an unknown ally.
