About this board game

Cunning Folk is a 15-minute micro game of bluffing and deduction for 2–4 players. Set in Ipswich, it casts players as townsfolk investigating houses to find witches and bring an end to a long feud between rival covens.

For years, good and evil witches have battled for the souls of Ipswich’s townsfolk. Now, the search moves from home to home, and every investigation brings a chance to use your wits—or risk exposing yourself.

At the heart of Cunning Folk is a simple but tense choice: look at a card, then tell the other players which character you see. Naming that character lets you use its ability, but you do not have to tell the truth. A convincing lie may help you, while a careless claim could make the town suspicious.

  • Investigate houses across Ipswich to search for witches.
  • Describe a character and use its ability.
  • Bluff or challenge while judging when to trust the other players.
  • Avoid suspicion: one wrong call makes the town suspect witchcraft, and a second leads to ostracism.

Every accusation carries consequences, so opponents must decide when to call someone out and when to tread carefully. The game rewards sharp deduction, confident deception, and the ability to keep your story convincing under pressure.

With its compact format and direct social tension, Cunning Folk delivers a focused contest of claims, challenges, and suspicion. Keep your wits about you, search carefully, and if you lie, make sure you do it well.
