About this board game

Vejen is a trading game for 2–4 players that takes about 120 minutes, set in the late Middle Ages across the small paths connecting villages in Denmark and Germany.

Players take on the roles of traders seeking to build successful networks. Establish trading houses, improve your ox cart, buy goods, travel along the Haerveje, and sell resources in other locations. Careful attention to changing prices is essential, especially as the game uses both Danish and German currency, whose values can change at any time.

A game lasts twelve rounds. Each round begins with an event tile, whose two parts introduce a bid-price change and an additional effect that may alter player interaction, restrict movement on the board, or create a similar change in the game.

  • Event phase: Reveal a new event tile and apply its effects.
  • Income phase: Receive resources from the trading houses you have built.
  • Action phase: Buy resources, build buildings, travel, sell goods, and accept assignments for additional profit.
  • Round-end phase: Complete the round before the next cycle begins.
  • Final evaluation: After round twelve, determine the result.

The action phase offers the main opportunity to develop your trading operation. You must balance expansion, travel, purchases, and sales while looking for the most profitable prices and using assignments to improve your returns.

In Vejen, success belongs to traders who expand their trading network and develop their ox cart. Plan your routes, respond to events, and make the most of changing markets as the twelve-round journey unfolds.
