About this board game

Victory at Sea: World War II Naval Combat Game is a two-player naval combat game with an approximately 360-minute playing time, bringing the major maritime conflicts of the Second World War to the tabletop.

Based on the award-winning A Call to Arms games system, Victory at Sea is designed as a fast-flowing experience for both newcomers and veteran gamers. Players can refight epic historical battles, create their own fleets from the ships of the era, and fight entire campaigns.

The game covers the changing nature of naval warfare, from the era of mighty dreadnoughts to a conflict increasingly dominated by aircraft carriers and submarines. In the Battle of the Atlantic, German U-boats, pocket battleships, and the Bismarck threaten Allied convoys and the economy of the United Kingdom.

Other settings include the Mediterranean, where Italian and British fleets contest the fate of Egypt and North Africa, and the Pacific, where carrier fleets clash while American submariners target Japan’s merchant fleet. Battleships also meet in fierce night actions among the Pacific islands.

  • Over 70 ship classes are detailed, supporting a wide variety of naval engagements.
  • 18 scenarios provide ready-made battles to play.
  • Counters are included for every class of ship featured in the game.
  • Players can build their own fleets and fight extended campaigns.

With its broad coverage of World War II naval warfare, Victory at Sea offers a way to explore famous clashes or create new confrontations between the era’s fleets. The game was later expanded by Order of Battle: A Supplement for Victory at Sea.
