BIOTIX

About this board game

BIOTIX is a 2–5 player game that takes about 40 minutes, challenging you to grow a volatile microorganism culture while sabotaging your rivals. Set in Dr. Lillian Johannae’s laboratory, it turns a groundbreaking discovery into a ruthless race for scientific recognition.

On your turn, draw two BIOTIX from the specimen bag and place them one at a time. You can add them to your own petri dish to build your score, or place them in an opponent’s dish to push their population beyond its limit and trigger a bio-reaction.

Each of the five BIOTIX species has its own trigger number and a unique reaction when it goes off. These volatile effects keep the microorganisms—and everyone’s score—in constant flux throughout the game.

• Trash microbes from a dish.
• Force microbes into other players’ petri dishes.
• Steal microbes from an opponent.
• Wipe out one species across the entire table.

At the end of each research day, you gain points for the BIOTIX remaining in your dish. The most volatile species are worth the most points, but growing too far can make a culture vulnerable to a well-timed attack. After three days of research, the player with the best score wins.

Once you have mastered the core game, try the advanced mode with Aggressive BIOTIX. This cancer-like organism mimics the properties of the BIOTIX it replaces in your dish, but scores negative points instead of the usual value. With its compact format, shifting cultures, and direct take-that play, BIOTIX makes every placement a risky scientific decision.
