About this board game

Converge: Sparks of Hope is a two-player card game played in about 30 minutes, set on a dying world where survivors compete to build the best team and secure a powerful artifact.

Each round, players take turns playing one card from their hand. Every card has two parts: a character with a skillset, rank, and special ability, plus a goal with its own star value. A card may be discarded for its special ability, added to a player’s team to help fulfill goals, or played as a new shared goal.

Goals placed in the central area apply to both players, and fulfilled goals remain in play. As teams and goals shift, players must choose how to use each card while tracking their current star value.

Sparks of Hope introduces three distinct six-card skillsets:

  • Delvers: Expand subterranean tunnels to house new team members.
  • Astropaths: Study constantly, allowing them to copy other skillsets’ effects.
  • Healers: Heal the injured by restoring them from the discard pile to a team.

At the end of each round, the player with the most stars gains control of the artifact. If that player already controls it, they win. If no one secures victory before all cards have been played, the artifact’s holder wins instead.

Converge: Sparks of Hope is part of a series in which each set can be played on its own. Players can also combine any three skillsets from multiple sets to create new combinations and discover different paths to victory.
