About this board game
ColorFox is a 15-minute card game for 2–4 players in which you place cards, collect matchsticks in six colors, and compete for the highest score.
On your turn, cards are placed on the table to help you collect colored matchsticks. As your cards connect to multiple other cards, you can also trade matchsticks with an opponent—and that opponent cannot refuse the trade.
The game continues until the matchsticks of one color run out. Players then calculate their scores by evaluating each set of different colored matchsticks separately before adding those scores together.
The scoring rewards larger sets, making every color collection important. The points for a set are:
- A set of six different colors scores 21 points.
- A set of five scores 15 points.
- A set of four scores 10 points.
- A set of three scores 6 points.
- A set of two scores 3 points.
- A lone matchstick scores 1 point.
Because trades are part of the card connections, your growing collection can change through interactions with your opponents. You must keep track of the colors you hold while considering how each new placement may affect your score.
When the final scoring is complete, the player with the most points wins. With its six-color collection system, compulsory opponent trades, and short playing time, ColorFox offers a focused game for 2–4 players, released in 2016.
