About this board game
That’s Not a Hat: Incognito is a 15-minute memory and bluffing game for 3–8 players, built around passing cards and keeping track of changing personalities.
Each card shows an abstract personality, such as a traffic cone with a crown, a beard, or an animal disguise. Whoever receives a card decides who it represents, then passes it to another player. As cards move around the table, remembering who is who becomes increasingly difficult.
When you are unsure about your identity, you can still try to bluff convincingly. Alternatively, announce a new character that combines the criteria of several cards, creating an even more confusing claim for your opponents to assess.
- Pass cards around the table while tracking personalities.
- Bluff when your memory fails and try to make your claim believable.
- Challenge suspicious identities by refusing a claim and saying that the player is lying.
- Risk a penalty if your challenge is wrong.
Opponents must decide whether to believe a declared personality or call it out. The result is a tense cycle of uncertain memories, confident declarations, and risky accusations, with every passing card testing what you really remember.
That’s Not a Hat: Incognito also includes an “extreme” variant and introduces a new direction symbol on the back of some cards. These additions offer further twists to the familiar passing-card gameplay while keeping personalities and misdirection at the center of the experience.
