About this board game

10 Gallon Tank is a fish-drafting game for 2–5 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. As hobby aquarists, players split and draft groups of fish, seeking to create the most aesthetically pleasing aquarium while pursuing bonus points.

Each game unfolds over a number of rounds determined by the number of players. Every round follows three distinct phases: Set Up the School of Fish, Split School into Groups, and Take a Group for Your Aquarium. This structure gives players the opportunity to divide the available fish and then select the group that best supports their aquarium.

• Set up the school of fish for the round.
• Split the school into groups.
• Take one group for your aquarium.

After all three phases are complete, the round ends. If it is not the final round, the start player rotates clockwise before the next round begins, changing who leads the following turn through the sequence.

Once the preset number of rounds has been played, scoring begins. Players score their aquariums and can earn additional points by meeting the Aquarium Goal. There may also be a chance to snag the rare treasure chest, adding another appealing possibility to the drafting process.

With its focused round structure and emphasis on choosing the best groups of fish, 10 Gallon Tank offers a compact contest of selection and aquarium design. The player with the most points after Aquarium Goals are factored in wins.
