About this board game
The Last Garden is a worker-placement and betting game for 2–4 players, with play lasting around 45 minutes. In a world where one woman is all that remains of humanity, the Queen seeks to recreate the lush gardens of her youth.
Moisture is scarce, so the Queen turns to a collection of out-of-commission mining robots. Reprogrammed as Robotanists, they work to transform metal and rare gems into an elaborate garden that might earn her approval.
Each player controls a number of Robotanists and competes to become the Queen’s favorite. On every turn, a player places a Robotanist onto the board and plays a card that can shift structures in the garden or manipulate gems.
- Worker placement: Send Robotanists to the board to advance your garden-building efforts.
- Card play: Shift garden structures and manipulate gems as the layout develops.
- Betting: Compete for the Queen’s favor as the Robotanists strive to please her.
The Queen does not remember exactly what her gardens looked like, but she will know them when she sees them. With the Robotanists’ AI less than perfect, players must work within an uncertain vision while using the available scraps and gems.
After a set number of days, the player who has gained the most favor wins. With its post-apocalyptic setting, distinctive robotic workers, and evolving garden, The Last Garden presents a compact contest to build something beautiful from the remnants of a lost world.
