About this board game
Skulls of Sedlec: Essential Collection is a competitive game for 1–4 players, with plays lasting about 20 minutes. Set in the Sedlec Ossuary during the 16th century AD, it casts players as novice monks competing to create the best arrangement of skulls.
The Black Plague and Hussite Wars have overcrowded the graveyard. To help the half-blind Bone Collector, players must exhume graves and arrange the revealed skulls inside the crypt, honoring the deceased’s last wishes as effectively as possible.
The game’s core flow is simple to follow:
- Dig up graves from the graveyard to reveal cards.
- Take cards into your hand to collect skulls.
- Arrange the cards from your hand into a stack.
Each player is working toward a completed stack, but only the arrangement that better honors the deceased’s last wishes will score more points. The competition is not only about collecting cards; it is about deciding how to arrange them within your stack.
Once the stacks are complete, the Bone Collector judges each player’s work and declares one arrangement the most exceptional. This final judgment gives the game a distinctive thematic conclusion, connecting every graveyard decision to the crypt’s finished display.
Released in 2025, Skulls of Sedlec: Essential Collection offers a compact contest of grave exhumation, card collection, and skull arrangement. Whether played with a single player or a group of up to four, it centers on building a stack worthy of the Bone Collector’s approval.
