About this board game

Switching Tracks is a pick-up-and-deliver train game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Set across a map of United States railroad tracks and cities, it challenges players to plan routes, move goods, and fulfill contracts.

The board features switch tiles at railroad intersections. Change these switches to send your train along a different route, adapting your journey before the train runs. Goods are picked up in cities along the way and delivered to cities that match the goods’ color.

Your train can be improved during the game. Upgrade it to travel faster or carry more goods, or obtain additional switchmen so you can change more switches before running your train. Offices can also provide special abilities, adding further options to your railroad operation.

  • Pick up goods in cities and deliver them to matching destinations.
  • Change switch tiles to alter your train’s route.
  • Upgrade speed, carrying capacity, or the number of available switchmen.
  • Use offices that grant special abilities.

Delivered goods are used to complete contracts, giving every journey a clear purpose. The first player to fill five contracts wins the game, making each route, upgrade, and switch decision important as you work toward your goal.

With its changing railroad routes and focus on deliveries, Switching Tracks combines train movement, goods management, and contract fulfillment in a race to complete five contracts first.
