About this board game

Map It! World Edition is a geographic positioning game for 2–6 players that plays in about 20 minutes. Put your knowledge of world cities to the test as you build a shared map using only directional relationships.

The game uses a deck of roughly 200 location cards, each naming a city and showing its latitude and longitude on the back. Three piles of 15 cards are dealt, with an interlude card placed between each pile to create a 45-card deck. One location card begins on a direction board marked with arrows pointing north, south, east, and west.

On your turn, draw a location card while keeping its coordinates secret. Place it next to the direction board or between cards already on the board, indicating where you think the city belongs relative to the starting location and the other cities. Is Honolulu west of San Francisco? Place it by the west arrow—but be ready for another player to question your judgment.

After every placement, any player may issue a challenge. The latest card and one adjacent card are revealed to check their positions. If the placement was wrong, the challenger takes a point chip from the player who placed it and the card is removed. If the challenge fails, the challenger gives a chip to that player instead.

After 15 cards, an interlude card triggers interim scoring. Everyone secretly guesses how many cards were placed correctly: an exact guess earns two chips, while, if nobody is exact, the closest guess earns one. After three rounds and the final interlude scoring, the player with the most chips wins. Map It! World Edition combines hidden information, risk-taking, and lively challenges in a compact world geography contest.
