About this board game

Queen of 12 is a bluff-and-write game for 1–4 players that plays in about 40 minutes. Across 12 rounds, players compete to gather Stones of Power, twelve-sided dice, and use them to build the most valuable patterns on their score sheets.

Each player has the same character cards, and everyone knows which cards are available. Choose one from your hand and play it face down, then watch the other players carefully: are they reaching for the best dice, or holding back for a later opportunity?

Characters have unique abilities and different speeds. Lower-numbered characters act first, although they generally take fewer dice. A character may provide a desired color or number, or even offer a new character card. However, if multiple players choose the same character, it becomes overwhelmed and its effect cannot be used.

  • Play cards face down to compete for dice from the trays.
  • Use each die to mark either its color or its number on your score sheet.
  • Adapt your plans to a changing card order in every game.
  • Use powerful one-time effects when you fail to collect any dice.

Your score depends on placing crosses strategically. Full rows and columns containing five crosses provide the most points, while a row or column with exactly two crosses scores nothing. This creates difficult choices as you balance immediate gains against longer-term patterns.

With its blend of hidden card selection, tactical uncertainty, dice drafting, and score-sheet planning, Queen of 12 challenges you to anticipate everyone else’s plans. The player who places crosses most cleverly and earns the most points rises to become the new queen of the twelve kingdoms.
