About this board game

Fortress Berlin is a two-player tactical and operational simulation of the assault on Berlin, the last major battle of World War II in Europe. With an approximate playing time of 12 hours, it presents the battle across a detailed city map and uses historical units that took part in the fighting.

The map scale is approximately 500 yards, or 457 meters, per hex. It depicts essential portions of Berlin and the general area surrounding the city’s inner defenses, extending from Treptow in the east to Spandau in the west, and from Wedding-Pankow in the north to Mariendorf-Zehlendorf in the south.

Each game turn represents one day of the battle. Ground units range in size from companies to divisions, while the playing pieces include actual formations involved in the fight as well as optional forces that might have become involved but did not.

  • Full-color 22 x 34-inch map
  • 480 full-color die-cut counters
  • 16-page rulebook
  • Four pages of charts and tables
  • Medium complexity
  • High solitaire suitability

Designed by John Prados and developed by C. Rawling, Fortress Berlin combines an urban battlefield, daily game turns, and unit-level historical detail in a focused simulation of the struggle for the German capital. Graphic design is by Craig Grando and Nicolas Eskubi.
