About this board game

Dinosaur Gauge is a pick-up and devour game for 3–5 players, played in about 90 minutes. Set as the Western Interior Seaway shrinks, it challenges players to invest in dinosaur industries and maximize the value of their holdings on the Stomp Market.

Hexagonal tiles are placed on water hexes, gradually reducing the Seaway while also serving as the game’s timer. Each player receives an equal number of turns, creating a tight race in which every investment and action matters.

On a turn, a player places a tile, buys one share of stock, and takes one action. Available actions include:

• Building for a railroad
• Making a delivery
• Producing goods
• Establishing an airport
• Recycling

The four industries each work and score differently, so players must invest carefully and look for ways to encourage their fellow players to handle the hard part. The game’s shifting opportunities create room for emergent alliances and plenty of chaos as shipping magnates give way to railroad barons, factory owners, and airline pioneers.

With only a handful of turns, timing is crucial. Build your holdings, pursue valuable opportunities, and finish with more money than your rivals to win. Released in 2022, Dinosaur Gauge was the first game design by Hollandspiele founder Mary Holland, created in collaboration with veteran cube rails designer Amabel Holland of Irish Gauge.

Gleeful, unconventional, and unapologetically dinosaur-focused, Dinosaur Gauge combines investment decisions with a steadily changing map and a playful prehistoric setting.
