About this board game

Sitting Ducks Deluxe is a 3–6-player pond survival game with an approximately 40-minute play time, where each player tries to keep at least one duck alive longer than their opponents.

This remake of the 2005/2006 game Sitting Ducks preserves the original goal and flow. Ducks swim across an idyllic pond while ruthless hunters and unexpected effects turn them into easy prey.

The Deluxe edition includes almost twice as many action cards as the earlier game—100 instead of 52—along with many new action types. These cards create sudden threats, target specific players, and introduce surprising ways to change the pond.

  • Moby Duck: For one round, only one player’s ducks may be shot at.
  • Bird flu: Kills every duck on the pond at once.
  • Frank-ent-stein: Kills three adjacent ducks and brings one of your killed ducks back into play.
  • Featherbrain: Forces a player with a duck in the crosshairs to shoot their own duck if they have a fire card.
  • Shot in the dark: Kills the topmost duck on the draw deck.

Three duckling cards are shuffled into the deck with the ducks and water cards. While a duckling crosses the pond, no shooting is allowed; once it finishes crossing, it leaves the game.

The German edition also includes a gameboard and cardboard crosshairs, like the older American version. With six newly colored duck families, Sitting Ducks Deluxe can be combined with the original game for up to 12 players, although this combination has not been tested and is not recommended by the publisher.
