About this board game

Honeycombs is a tile-matching game for 1–8 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Connect hexagonal tiles by matching their symbols, then earn points for every successful connection and for creating complete honeycomb structures.

The game offers three distinct ways to play. In Worker Bee, players race to connect their tiles into a finished honeycomb. Everyone plays at the same time, and the first player to complete a mistake-free layout calls “HONEYCOMBS,” ending the round. After three rounds, the player with the highest score becomes the Queen Bee.

One Big Honeycomb is a slower, turn-by-turn competition. Players draw tiles into a hand of three and add one tile at a time to a shared honeycomb, earning points for each match. Special tiles make this version more strategic:

  • Double Points doubles points earned when played.
  • Steal lets a player take another player’s turn.
  • Extra Turn provides an immediate bonus turn.
  • Wild Tile lets its player choose one symbol to match any symbol.

In Honeycombs Puzzle, everyone works together at their own pace to arrange all the tiles into one creative honeycomb. Tiles may be moved at any time, and the group’s goal is to create as many connections as possible. This mode is non-competitive, though players can count and record their total score.

Scoring rewards both quantity and structure: each match is worth 1 point, while a tile matching on all six sides creates a 5-point core connection. In Worker Bee, unused tiles cost points, making efficient layouts especially important.
