About this board game

Nakum is a 2020 board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Set during Ajaw, the final and most sacred month of Tzolkin in the Mayan calendar, it places noble families in a contest for the favor of the gods.

To build your family’s influence, you must manage your workers and the resources they gather. Hunt, harvest, and explore as you prepare to complete the offerings currently active in the pyramid. Each offering presents an opportunity to advance your family’s standing, but some demand a human sacrifice paid with members of your clan.

Resources can also be taken to the market. Exchange what you have to gain benefits, acquire additional resources, or collect points of influence. Deciding how to use your workers and when to commit your supplies is central to pursuing the greatest glory.

  • Manage the members of your clan and the resources you obtain.
  • Complete active offerings in the pyramid.
  • Explore tiles and gather resources through hunting and harvesting.
  • Trade resources in the market for benefits, resources, or influence.

At the end of the game, families total the influence accumulated from several sources: offering cards, market cards, explored tiles, and resources remaining in the warehouse. The family with the most points becomes the most influential in Nakum.

With its focus on resource management, offerings, exploration, and difficult sacrifices, Nakum invites you to decide how far your clan will go to earn the gods’ glory.
