About this board game
Regimental Fire and Fury is a two-player American Civil War miniatures wargame with an approximately 180-minute play time, released in 2010. It recreates small engagements and portions of larger battles from 1861 to 1864, placing players in command of individual infantry and cavalry regiments and artillery batteries.
Designed for tactical play, each turn represents 10–15 minutes, with a ground scale of 1 inch to 25 yards. The rules are intended for 15mm figures, though other figure scales can be used by adjusting the basing and ground scales. Regiments typically contain 3 to 20 troop stands, while artillery batteries are represented by 2 or 3 gun stands.
Each player turn follows three distinct phases. In the Maneuver Phase, units resolve maneuver checks that combine morale, command, and control into a single die-roll procedure. The resulting effects determine the movement and other maneuvers available to each unit.
The Musketry and Cannonade Phase resolves fire combat in defensive and offensive rounds, using the Musketry & Cannonade Table to determine casualties and other effects. The Charge Phase handles contact between charging and defending units, with the possibility of a second breakthrough round after the initial combats are complete.
Regimental Fire and Fury includes guidelines for creating scenarios along with six historical battles, including Ball’s Bluff, Wilson’s Creek, Seven Pines, Stones River, Gettysburg, and Olustee. These scenarios cover different periods and theaters of the American Civil War.
