About this board game

Quartz: The Dice Game is a dice-driven mining game for 3–6 players that plays in about 45 minutes. Across six rounds, players explore a mine, gather crystals, and aim to finish the day with the most money.

On each turn, draw a crystal from the bag and place it on your cart. Drawing an unstable crystal gives you a reroll marker, with no limit to how many markers you can collect. You then roll five dice, with up to three rolls per turn and the option to reroll as many dice as you want during the second and third rolls.

Reroll markers offer an additional opportunity to improve your result: discard one to perform an extra reroll. Once the dice are settled, their faces determine which actions you can perform and how efficiently you can perform them.

  • Mine additional crystals
  • Steal crystals
  • Store crystals in your chest
  • Transfer unstable crystals to opponents

The more dice showing the same action, the more efficient that action becomes. Every choice can affect the contents of your cart, the crystals in your chest, and the unstable crystals threatening your final score.

At the end of the game, players receive points based on the value of their crystals, along with bonus points for collections of matching crystals. Each unstable crystal penalizes its owner by 3 points, while the player with the fewest crystals in their chest loses 5 points.

In Quartz: The Dice Game, mining, rerolls, dice results, and crystal management all lead toward one goal: collect the most money and claim the mine for yourself.
