About this board game

Twilight City is a complex strategy game for 1–4 players that plays in about 120 minutes. You are part of a group of partisans working toward the shared goal of undermining the Governor’s dictatorial regime, while competing against one another for prestige points.

Set in a smog-ridden metropolis, the game combines tableau building, resource management, card selection, and tactical movement. Each turn begins with a Main Action: play a card or select one from the display. These choices can lead to movement through the city and a wide range of further actions.

Build a row of cards in front of you and look for connections between the visual elements on adjacent cards. When those elements connect, you collect resources, while your card row also generates income. Use your resources to craft the items required for sabotage actions, and spend money in several ways, including infiltrating the corrupt government apparatus.

  • Shared partisan objective with individual competition for prestige
  • Card-row tableau building with visual connections and income
  • Resource management, crafting, sabotage, and government infiltration
  • Solo mode with distinctive challenges and solutions

Time is a constant pressure. You have 12 movement points before your in-game day ends, but players do not necessarily close their days at the same time. Fail to complete your activities or save enough money for expenses such as mandatory daily oxygen, and you will have less time available on the following day.

Movement is especially dangerous because the formidable Police Airship continually changes position above the streets. Being spotted makes things harder for everyone, turning each journey into a tense calculation. With an unspecified number of rounds and a rich mix of interconnected mechanisms, Twilight City offers an immersive challenge for expert players.
