About this board game

Legends of the American Frontier is an adventure game for 3 to 7 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Set in colonial America after the Revolutionary War, it follows newly minted citizens from the 1780s through the early 1800s.

Each player decides the course of a character’s life. Will that character become a Patriot, Frontiersman, Southern Gentleman, Soldier, Trapper, Settler, Indian Scout, Statesman, or Explorer? The choices you make shape a personal history filled with adventure, hardship, and discovery.

Over the course of the game, seek Status, Fame, Wealth, and Happiness through the Adventures you choose and the story cues you collect or purchase. These choices help define your character’s life and deeds while building an individual legend of the American frontier.

• Complete Adventures to develop your character’s story and score points.
• Purchase Rewards that contribute to your Legend and final score.
• Keep Adventures and Rewards visible as your character’s history unfolds.

The objective is to score the most points by completing Adventures and purchasing Rewards. Because these elements are added to each character’s Legend rather than kept hidden, the story of every life develops openly throughout the game.

At the end, the Legend Phase gives each player the chance to tell their character’s life story to the group, using the Legend created during play. Final scoring then accounts for -1 VP tokens, Failure tokens, and unspent Reward tokens, adding or subtracting them to determine the winner.

In Legends of the American Frontier, the path to victory is also a tale worth telling: create a character, pursue a life of your choosing, and leave behind a memorable frontier legend.
