About this board game

Battle Kittens is a 15-minute game for 2–6 players about drafting kittens, forming squads, and competing for fish tokens across three battlegrounds.

Each round, three battlegrounds are presented. Every battleground randomly receives one particular battle kitten trait: cute, strong, wise, or agile. These traits shape the setting for the round as players decide how to deploy their kittens.

Players begin by drafting adorably ferocious kitten cards from those available. They then divide their drafted kittens into squads and send those squads to the battlefields. Careful squad building and deployment determine which players can claim the valuable rewards.

• Deploy squads to three trait-based battlegrounds.
• Earn fish tokens according to battlefield allotments.

At each battlefield, the squads with the three highest point totals receive fish tokens. The number of tokens awarded depends on that particular battlefield’s allotment, giving players multiple opportunities to grow their haul during every round.

After three rounds, the cat herder with the biggest collection of fish tokens wins. With its royal cat herders, adorably ferocious kittens, and clearly defined three-round contest, Battle Kittens offers a compact competition for groups of two to six players. Released in 2017, it brings kitten drafting and squad deployment together in a quick battle for the kingdom’s fish.
