About this board game

Hooop! is a 2–4-player board game with an approximately 20-minute play time, in which frogs cross lilypads and collapsing bridges to reach their opponents’ homes.

The board is arranged as a square or pyramid, depending on the number of players, with a bridge between each pair of adjacent lilypads. On a turn, choose to move one frog to an adjacent lilypad or place a bridge connecting two lilypads. After a frog moves, the bridge it used falls into the lake—except for the bridge leading to a player’s home, which can never be removed.

Frogs cannot simply occupy the same lilypad. If a frog lands on an occupied space other than a home, the frog already there must jump away in a direction chosen by the active player, removing the bridge used for that jump. When that frog lands beside another frog, the process continues, creating a chain of forced movements. If an encroached frog has no available bridge, the original jump is illegal and the active player must choose another action.

Each player also has four action cards, with every card usable once per game. These cards can place two bridges, allow a jump without a bridge, remove an additional bridge, or provide an extra jump.

  • Move frogs across adjacent lilypads.
  • Place and remove bridges to shape the available routes.
  • Use one-time action cards at crucial moments.
  • Complete the objective by getting all your frogs into the other players’ homes, with at least one frog in each location.

In Hooop!, every jump changes the board, so routes can disappear just as quickly as they appear.
