About this board game
Card Football: Premiere Edition is a playing card-based American football board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting approximately 45 minutes. Across four quarters, players battle to win each down by playing the strongest hand.
Gameplay combines familiar card-game patterns with the decisions of football. Cards can be played individually, in pairs, as two pair, as three-of-a-kind, or as five-card poker-style Power Hands. The central choice is whether to use strong cards immediately or hold them back while hoping to assemble an even stronger combination.
- Play cards to compete for each down.
- Use individual cards, pairs, two pair, three-of-a-kind, and Power Hands.
- Resolve fumbles, field goals, and injuries with dice.
- Use team and player chips, a game board, a scoreboard, and a referee/yard marker.
Card Football includes the key moments of a football game, from field goals, punts, and extra points to fumbles, interceptions, and last-second heroics. The game offers one-, two-, three-, and four-player modes, including a single-player option in which an individual can take on “the system” and learn the basics before challenging friends.
Designed with a low learning curve, Card Football can typically be learned in two to five minutes or after a few series of downs. Released in 2006, Card Football: Premiere Edition turns classic card hands into a compact game of football decisions and changing momentum.
