About this board game

VITA MORS is a card game for 3–6 players that plays in about 30 minutes, placing every player in the role of a Grim Reaper who controls the fate of a plague-stricken kingdom.

In Vitamors, the people face sickness, desperation, and death. A plague doctor wearing a beak-like mask works to bring lives back from the brink, but his efforts are often disrupted by the manipulation of the Grim Reapers. Even when only a few people return to life, those survivors offer the kingdom a measure of hope.

Players hold the VITA-MORS coin and use their decisions to influence whether characters live or die. The game combines secret identity, partnerships, voting, and hand management, creating a contest of hidden motives and shifting influence.

  • Play as a Grim Reaper with your own desired pattern of life and death.
  • Use voting to determine whether characters should live or die.
  • Exercise privileges to affect the fate of the kingdom.
  • Manage your hand while navigating secret identities and partnerships.

Every decision contributes to the way life and death unfold in Vitamors. Players cooperate to make judgments, yet each Grim Reaper ultimately seeks a result that matches their own wishes. Reading the table, managing available cards, and choosing when to use influence are central to pursuing that goal.

At the end of VITA MORS, the winner is the player who has successfully made the pattern of life and death correspond to what they wanted. With its compact play time and focus on voting, privilege, and concealed allegiance, it presents a dramatic struggle over the destiny of a kingdom.
