About this board game
Cranium Party Playoff is a party voting game for 4–99 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. In a tournament inspired by an NCAA-style bracket, players debate head-to-head matchups, vote openly, and decide which contenders advance.
The 32 contenders are drawn at random from 500 tiles and placed into four categories: Arenas (Places), Contenders (People), Moves (Actions), and Gear (Things). Examples include Jamaica, Mark Twain, Showering, and Cocktails. Each matchup is judged according to a question, such as who players would rather be for a day.
A contender moves forward when it receives a majority of the players’ votes. The table can debate every pairing before making its decision, creating a lively mix of persuasion, personal preference, and surprising outcomes. The goal is not only to influence the vote, but also to anticipate how everyone else will choose.
- Predict the tournament winner for 4 points.
- Choose contenders you expect to reach the championship round for 2 points each.
- Pick contenders you expect to reach the final four for 1 point each.
- Make a bonus pick, trying to guess another player’s tournament winner, for 4 points.
After the tiles are placed, a random Knockout card supplies the question for the final championship round. Once everyone sees it, players make their picks and place them in an envelope until the game ends, adding a secret layer to the predictions.
Released in 2008, Cranium Party Playoff rewards accurate forecasting and clever table talk. Convince the other players to support your choices while quietly building the best possible bracket.
