About this board game
Convert is an abstract strategy game for 1–2 players that takes about 10 minutes to play. Each player uses a set of 10 differently shaped wooden blocks on a 4×4 board made of alternating black and white squares.
The game combines shape manipulation, row building, and territory control. Players work to fit their pieces onto the board and with one another, while also trying to complete rows of four squares and claim spaces by converting them to their color.
Whenever a player’s piece completes a row of four squares, that player scores one point. The evolving arrangement of pieces creates tactical choices as players balance immediate scoring opportunities with the effort to secure more board spaces.
- Play with 10 differently shaped wooden blocks per player.
- Build on a compact 4×4 board with alternating black and white squares.
- Complete rows of four to score during play.
- Claim board spaces by converting them to your color.
The game ends when all pieces have been played or when neither player can play a piece. Players then add the points earned during gameplay to the number of squares they have claimed on the board. The player with the highest total wins.
Convert was released in 2014 and has a new Second Edition rule set that also applies to First Edition Kickstarter copies. Additional variant play modes, puzzles, and a solo mode are available through the listed rules file, offering further ways to explore its compact spatial challenges.
