About this board game

Tank on Tank is a tactical World War II ground-combat game for 1–2 players, with an approximately 60-minute playing time. Designed by Peter Bogdasarian, it focuses on the fighting in Europe during the latter years of the war.

The game places players in the setting of the Allied landing in Normandy on June 6, 1944, and the difficult campaign that followed. From D-Day at Omaha Beach through the battle for Normandy, Allied and German forces clash in a contest of armor, infantry, and anti-tank firepower.

Tank on Tank is intended to be learned in less than five minutes and played during a lunch break. Its scale is described simply as tactical, making it a compact choice for players looking for a straightforward way to explore ground combat without a lengthy learning process.

The forces represented in the game include a range of vehicles and supporting units:

  • Sherman tanks
  • Wolverines
  • Priests
  • Tigers
  • Mark IVs
  • Infantry and anti-tank guns

These units reflect the tanks and troops that fought alongside one another in the European theater. The result is a focused tactical experience suitable for players seeking a simple introduction to war gaming or a quick game for an experienced tactician.

Tank on Tank is out of print, while later editions are available as Tank on Tank: West Front and Tank on Tank: East Front.
