About this board game

This Game is Bonkers! is a quirky racing game for 2–4 players that plays in about 10 minutes, with players rolling dice and racing their pawns to twelve points.

Each turn begins with a roll of the dice, sending a pawn along a linear track. When a pawn lands on a space, its player can play a track card there, adding a new instruction to that space.

The instructions can move pawns further forwards or backwards, changing how the track works as the game continues. The cards remain on the track, so their effects are not limited to the player who placed them.

  • Roll dice to move a pawn.
  • Play track cards on the spaces where you land.
  • Follow the instructions left behind by every player.
  • Race to twelve points through an evolving chain reaction.

Because everyone follows the same instructions, each newly placed card can affect future movement around the track. A space that once seemed straightforward may become part of a surprising sequence of moves as more cards are added.

The result is a compact and wild race in which the track itself keeps changing. Players build the chain reaction together while competing to reach twelve points, making This Game is Bonkers! a fast-playing game built around dice, shared instructions, and unexpected movement.

Originally released in 1978, the game offers a concise 10-minute experience for small groups. Its central idea is simple to follow: roll, move, add an instruction, and see how the evolving track guides everyone else.
