About this board game
Amazonas is a jungle-themed card game for 2–5 players, with rounds that take about 35 minutes to play. It challenges you to balance luck with memory as you manage your own face-down cards and watch the cards played by others.
On every turn, draw a card. You must either replace one of your own face-down cards with it or discard it to apply its effect. The ideal choice may depend on what you remember—not only about your own cards, but also about the cards belonging to the other players.
Discarding can create a sudden opportunity. If the discarded card coincides with another card held by any player, that player can quickly discard their matching card too, helping reduce their negative points at the end of the round.
- Replace: Exchange the drawn card with one of your own face-down cards.
- Discard: Apply the card’s effect and look for matching cards that can be discarded.
- Call “Amazonas”: If you believe your hand is the best, end the round and give every player one last turn.
Each round is a test of timing and confidence. Call too soon and another player may still improve their position; wait too long and someone else may end the round first. The goal is to earn the greater sum of positive points from round to round.
With its colorful jungle setting and focus on memory, opportunistic plays, and risk management, Amazonas offers a lively card-game experience. It belongs to the Tamalou family, a traditional card game family from the Middle East, and was released in 2022.
