About this board game

Flutter is a 1950 share-trading board game for 2–10 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Each player begins with £300 and aims to make a further £300 through dividends and the buying and selling of shares.

Six trading companies are available, but players never own the companies themselves. Instead, they gain an interest by purchasing share certificates. You may invest all your money in one company or spread it across several, choosing how to manage your available funds.

Dice determine the dividends paid on different shares, and those dividends influence share values. As the market changes, players may be able to anticipate which shares are likely to rise or fall, then buy or sell accordingly. Flutter combines luck from the dice with opportunities for judgment and timing.

  • Mounted playing board
  • Six sets of share pegs
  • Money in five denominations
  • Deck of “Market News” cards
  • Six sets of share certificates
  • Six-sided die, letter die, and dice shaker
  • Rule booklet

The included share certificates provide eight for each company in Flutter; the listed contents also note ten for each company in Mr. Moneymaker. Players use the board, money, share materials, cards, and dice to follow the movement of the companies and pursue their financial target.

With room for up to ten players, Flutter offers a social market game centered on investment choices, changing share values, and the uncertainty of the roll. Watch the dividends, judge the likely direction of the market, and trade with the goal of increasing your starting fortune.
