About this board game

ITALY ’43-’45: La resa dei conti is an amateur COIN wargame for 2–4 players, with an approximately 120-minute play time, covering the struggle for control of Italy from the autumn of 1943 through the end of 1945.

The game begins with the chaotic situation that followed 8 September 1943. Across the evolving front, two Partisan factions, the Allied and German armies, and what remains of the Italian fascist regime fight for influence and control.

Gameplay uses the classic COIN system, with the action driven by an event card deck. Each faction has its own victory conditions and available actions, creating a strongly asymmetrical experience in which the opposing sides do not pursue the same goals or approach the conflict in the same way.

  • Play as one of two Partisan factions, the Allies, the German army, or the remaining Italian fascist regime.
  • Use faction-specific actions and pursue distinct victory conditions.
  • Experience the changing front through an event card-driven COIN system.

ITALY ’43-’45: La resa dei conti was developed with a focus on short game time and accessibility for players who are not experienced with COIN games. Its design brings the complex, shifting situation of wartime Italy to the table while retaining the distinctive factional differences that define the system.

Whether approached as a four-player contest or adapted for a smaller group, the game presents a focused wargaming experience about Italy’s fractured political and military landscape during the final years of the Second World War.
