About this board game
NoteQuest is a solo dungeon crawl game for 1–3 players, with an indicated play time of 120 minutes. You create an adventurer and a dungeon through dice rolls, then set out to explore its dangers.
The rules are deliberately simple and fast, keeping the focus on exploration rather than lengthy procedures. Your adventurer is weak but ambitious, chasing money and fame in a journey where survival is far from certain.
To play, gather the essentials and find a quiet place for your adventure:
- The NoteQuest book
- A notebook or grid paper
- A pencil
- Some six-sided dice
Each dungeon is created randomly, giving every adventure its own starting point. If you complete the dungeon, you can move on to another one and continue your journey.
Death, however, is very likely. If your character falls before finishing the dungeon, create a new adventurer and choose whether to explore the same dungeon again—where you may find your old character’s corpse with all the items in the backpack—or begin a new dungeon instead.
This straightforward flow makes NoteQuest easy to begin while leaving the excitement in your hands: roll the dice, document your progress, explore the unknown, and hope your fragile adventurer can claim the fame and fortune they seek.
